An exciting opportunity has become available for a Workshop Technician to join our growing Production Team on a full time and permanent basis. 

EX Engineering is an Australian owned and operated industry leader in the supply of electrical solutions for hazardous areas. EX Engineering is a specialist in Hazardous Areas Electrical Design providing purpose built hazardous areas equipment to the resource sectors. This role is responsible for completing work orders and assembly tasks to EX Quality Standards and to the customers’ satisfaction. The role includes reading drawings, measuring, milling, machining, drilling and punching of enclosures of different materials and different thicknesses, accurately and to a very high standard. This role is a key member of our Production Team.


Critical to this role is someone with the right attitude, someone who is keen to learn, a team player that can take ownership and accountability for their workspace and workload. This role will suit someone who can work autonomously, to a high standard without the need for close supervision. Training will be provided.

You will need to have at least 1 – 5 years relevant industry experience in drilling, light machining, punching metals (Stainless Steel, Mild Steel, Brass) and composite plastics or similar.

  • Agree to the workload for the day with Production Team Leader
  • Prepare work area and tools required for work orders
  • Complete all documentation associated with work orders
  • Read and understand drawings prepared by our Engineering Team
  • Measure, mill, machine, drill and punch enclosures as required as part of the work order
  • Complete all work to a very high standard and in line with EX Standards and Procedures
  • Ensure all tooling is maintained in good working order
  • Maintain a safe, clean and tidy workspace/workshop
  • Complete work orders in line with EX Safe Work Procedures
  • Liaise with other teams to support all aspects of the business

  • Rights to work in Australia
  • WA Drivers Licence
  • Undertake a pre-employment medical and be fit for work
  • Police Clearance Certificate
  • Computer literate including Microsoft Office suite
  • Trade skills including measuring, milling, machining, drilling and punching of materials
  • Track record of compliance with Health & Safety procedures
  • Track record of providing exceptional customer service with good communication skills

  • Experience in assembly of electrical components
  • Reading drawings designed by an engineering department
  • Knowledge of electrical solutions for hazardous areas
  • Electrical Licence or Qualification
